Firmware for X-Pro1 | Fujifilm Global

The new firmware version 2.0 for the Fuji X-Pro1 is released. It makes the auto focus and the manual focus of the Fuji X-Pro1 faster and more reliable. In my reviews of the manual focus for the X-Pro1, I stated that the manual focus lag with the focus by wire focusing ring was unusable. After updating the firmware I’ve got to say that is is much improved and has gone leaps and bounds toward true geared manual focus but still falls short. There is a different feeling when using a manual geared focusing mechanism. Maybe its the feel of the […]

FIRMWARE UPDATE VERSION 2.00 IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE FUJIFILM X-PRO1 | Press Center | Fujifilm USA. I’m so happy with the commitment that Fuji has with it’s X line of cameras. I think they realize what a following that they have with these new mirrorless cameras and how doing the right thing for the sake of the customer will win them more loyalty in the long run. With the recent announcement of the New Fuji X-E1 and the supposed increase in speed of the autofocus, as a X-Pro1 owner, would have felt very slighted if they didn’t provide a […]

FUJIFILM INTRODUCES THE ALL NEW X-E1 INTERCHANGEABLE LENS DIGITAL CAMERA AND TWO XF LENSES TO THE X-SERIES SYSTEM | Press Center | Fujifilm USA. The new Fuji X-E1 is basically the Fuji X-Pro1 without the optical viewfinder. The Fuji X-E1 has a lower rear screen resolution than the Fuji X-Pro1 but has a very good electronic viewfinder so it really doesn’t matter. Control layout is virtually identical except for the review button which has moved to the upper left hand side of the rear LCD. This is very exciting because the Fuji X-E1 has a lower price point than the […]

Fuji X-Pro1: Portraits

Portraits with the Fuji X-Pro1 I’ve been shooting with the Fuji X-Pro1 now for a couple of weeks and I wanted to give my impressions on the camera, the handling, and how it performs when shooting portraits. I used the Fuji X-Pro1 with the Fujinon XF 35mm F1.4 R Lens. My goals were to show how easy it was to get the camera, attach a lens, and with minimal setup, start shooting. With this in mind, not special film simulations were used. Camera setting were all in default mode, ISO set to Auto, And aperture set to Auto. I shot these […]

Sony NEX-7: Leica M-Mount to NEX adapter

Sony NEX-7: Leica M-Mount to NEX mount adapter I just wanted to give a quick review for this Leica M-Mount to NEX mount adapter. I searched the internet for an adapter that both was cost-effective and well made and durable. If you look on the internet you will find many adapters that will allow you to use Leica M-Mount lenses with the Sony NEX-7. You will see names such as Metabones, Photodiox, RainbowImaging, Novaflex, Phottix, and Zykkor. Then you have the Generics that don’t really have a name but “look” like the ones with names. Price ranges on the average […]

Sony 18-55mm F3.5 OSS vs. Zeiss Biogon 35mm F2.0 ZM

Sony 18-55mm F3.5 OSS at 35mm vs. Zeiss Biogon 35mm F2.0 ZM This review is the Second in a series of reviews that I will be doing that compares the standard Sony 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 OSS Kit lens to older legacy M-Mount lenses using a LM-NEX adapter.  For this review we will look at the Sony 18-55mm F3.5 OSS at 35mm and see how it performs against the  Zeiss Biogon F2.0 ZM lens. How does it perform in the digital world. The Setup I used the Sony NEX-7 on a tripod and set the Sony 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 OSS at 35mm. Lens Shot at […]

Sony NEX-7 with Sigma 30mm F2.8 EX DN Lens A friend in Hong Kong “Spike” has posted a review of the Sony NEX-7 with Sigma 30mm F2.8 EX DN Lens. Link; Here’s an excerpt: To my eyes, F5.6 is pretty sharp there, F8 is okay-ish, and then it starts to drop off till it’s seriously fuzzy at F22. But all in all, for a lens that costs around US$200, I’d say the overall results are quite impressive. I’d say for $200.00 its a pretty darn good deal. But I personally wonder if you gain that much with this lens as opposed […]

Sony NEX-7 w/ Voigtlander 85mm 3.5 SC Nikon RF Mount

One of our readers Matt Wilkens has made some very beautiful images with his Sony NEX-7 using a Voigtlander 85mm F3.5 SC with a Nikon RF (Range Finder) mount. He says: My favorite lenses are 24mm 1.8 Zeiss, the 55-210mm Sony E and my Voigtlander APO 85mm Nikon RF mount with adapter ( a bargain around 250 new) I like the image quality of the 85mm Voigtlander almost as much as the Zeiss 24mm, but I do like to have the full function of AF. I’ve asked his permission to show them, because I feel the community would love to see what […]

Fuji X-Pro1 Review. By Ken Rockwell Fuji X-Pro1 can be found at Adorama He has many interesting findings of the camera regarding handling and some much deserved praise for Fuji’s Fujinon 35mm f1.4 lens. Sharper and better than Leica??  You be the judge. Also the low light capabilities are in line with what I’ve found as well as many others. Just amazing!! I’ll be posting some real world low light images for you to see also and I agree with him that the Fuji X-Pro1 is a photographers camera, something that a lot of us have been waiting a long […]

Fuji X-Pro-1 - Unboxing

Fuji X-Pro-1 – Unboxing Fuji X-Pro-1 Body It’s interesting to note that the packaging for the Fuji x-pro 1 is not as nice in my opinion then the Fuji X1oo. The packaging for the x100 was something of a collector’s camera with the faux velvet where the camera sits and the box lid that is held in with ribbon that’s more a kin to a presentation box. This camera is more expensive, similar quality, and the flag ship of the fuji line yet it has a more subdued packaging then the x100. That all being said, I don’t mind it […]
