As a follow-up to the Zeiss 18mm F4.0 vs. Fujinon 18mm F2.0 lens review, I figured I’d do the same test for the Zeiss 35mm F2.0 vs. the Fujinon 35mm F1.4 lens. I’m sure there are many of you out there are curious to see how these lenses will stack up against each other on the Fuji X-Pro1 and an APS-C 1.5x crop body. The Buzz around the internet as well as here on Photohead Online, has been the Fujinon 35mm F1.4 is a very good lens with amazing performance. Zeiss 18mm F4.0 vs Fujinon 18mm F2.0

I wanted to test the Fujinon 18mm F2.0 lens and see how it would stack up to the Zeiss 18mm F4.0. The Zeiss 18mm F4.0 has a large following and is very poplar with the Rangefinder crowd. How will to perform on the Fuji X-Pro1 and an APS-C 1.5x crop body? Let’s take a look. Setup For this set up, I used ISO 100 in full daylight, I shot the Fujinon 18mm at: F2.0, F2.8, F4.0, F5.6, F8.0, F11, F16, F22 and then the Zeiss 18mm at: F4, F5.6, F8.0, F11, F16, F22. For each shot I took a 100% […]

Fuji X-Pro1 w/ Voigtlander 15mm F4.5 Aspherical: Samples

For the past week, I’ve been testing many M Mount lenses on the Fuji X-Pro1. I will have these tests in the up coming days, but for the time being, I wanted to give you a sneak peek of some “real world” shots. These images were made with the Fuji X-Pro1 with the Voigtlander 15mm F4.5 Aspherical Lens. The Fuji X-Pro1 has a APS-C sized sensor with a 1.5x Crop Factor. So the Voigtlander 15mm F4.5 lens would have the 35mm film equivalent of a 22.5mm lens. This is the closest you can get to the very popular 21mm focal […]

Sony NEX-7 w/ Voigtlander 15mm F4.5 Asph

Does the Voigtlander 15mm F4.5 make a good quality “street photography” lens for the Sony NEX-7? That question has been bouncing around in my head f0r a while since I got the Sony NEX-7. I’ve been doing to many reviews and tests, that I haven’t been able to answer that question for myself until now. I decided to have some quality Father and Son time over this holiday weekend and I was very happy my son was a good sport about being a model. In this review of the Voigtlander 15mm F4.5 Aspherical Super-Wide Heliar for the Sony NEX-7, I […]

Fuji X-Pro1: Leica M mount to Fuji X mount Adapter Review

***Update*** June 12, 2012 With the release of the body firmware 1.10, Fujifilm has added custom frame lines to the optical viewfinder. So if you read the issues section below you will find that originally, there were no frame lines for your custom focal lengths. With the firmware upgrade, if you set the camera to 50mm or 18mm or 75mm you will get an approximate frame line that is fairly accurate. With lenses that are 15mm and 12mm the angle of view is wider than what the optical viewfinder shows so the camera lets you know this by putting a […]

Fuji X-Pro1 - Mom Approved??

Continuing with our very popular “Mom Approved” articles, this time we’re looking at the Fuji X-Pro1. We want to see if this camera is truly “Mom Approved”. Sony NEX-7 50mm F1.8 OSS video test

I just wanted to post a quick video test that I did with the Sony NEX-7 with Sony 50mm F1.8 OSS lens. I wanted to see the performance of the Optical Steady Shot on the Sony 50mm F1.8. I was at Seaworld, San Diego catching the Clyde and Seamore Show and the Intro was very entertaining so, I recorded it all hand-held and did some panning back and forth to follow the action. I was impressed by how the Optical Steady Shot worked and besides getting bumped here and there by my son, the video was pretty smooth. The video […]
