Firmware for X-Pro1 | Fujifilm Global

The new firmware version 2.0 for the Fuji X-Pro1 is released. It makes the auto focus and the manual focus of the Fuji X-Pro1 faster and more reliable. In my reviews of the manual focus for the X-Pro1, I stated that the manual focus lag with the focus by wire focusing ring was unusable. After updating the firmware I’ve got to say that is is much improved and has gone leaps and bounds toward true geared manual focus but still falls short. There is a different feeling when using a manual geared focusing mechanism. Maybe its the feel of the plastic lens ring that gives me a detach from true manual focus but it is now at least usable as opposed to previously when it was completely unusable.

Also with the new firmware is the much appreciated 3x manual focus zoom assist. This is a lower zoom than the standard 5x zoom which is 90% usable, there are times when I felt it would be great if the zoom wasn’t so much so that I could still keep relative framing on my subject while still checking focus. Apparently I wasn’t the only one. Thanks Fuji!! Much Appreciated addition.

Finally, another feature that I really liked was the addition of Auto (6400) when shooting in low light situations this is a fine addition. In real world shooting situations I’ve found Auto (3200) not enough. Having to change the ISO manually is an extra step that is now not needed. This feature isn’t going to change the world, but it’s a nice addition that some people might feel valuable.

Follow the link below for the new firmware.

One Response to “Firmware for X-Pro1 | Fujifilm Global”

  1.

Thanks for the review. How does it compare to the NEX 7. And how is manual focusing with a manual focus lens such as a leica or zeiss with the new firmware? Thanks. Matt
