The new Fuji X-E1 is basically the Fuji X-Pro1 without the optical viewfinder. The Fuji X-E1 has a lower rear screen resolution than the Fuji X-Pro1 but has a very good electronic viewfinder so it really doesn’t matter. Control layout is virtually identical except for the review button which has moved to the upper left hand side of the rear LCD.
This is very exciting because the Fuji X-E1 has a lower price point than the Fuji X-Pro1 and is slightly smaller and lighter. This makes it slightly more portable and if armed with a Fuji X-Pro1 and a Fuji X-E1 in your camera bag, this would make a great compact “wedding” shoot set up. I would use the Fujinon 35mm F1.2 on the Fuji X-Pro1 and the new Fujinon 14mm F2.8 on the Fuji X-E1. According to Fuji, the new X-E1 is has the same sensor as the X-Pro1 so the output should be very similar if not identical sans some minor firmware tweaks. Looking forward to seeing results from the lenses and the new X-E1.
