Summer is about to go full throttle, so I thought it would be fun to have a challenge based on summer fun that would also get our creative juices flowing. I’m calling this the Fun Photo Challenge:
Arnold Palmer in Flip Flops:
When I think of summer I think of Lemonade, Ice Tea, and Flip Flops. So following this theme, here are the guidelines:
Image: Any camera, camera phone, film, slide, etc.
Photoshop: No image compositing, photoshop only for small adjustments such as color, filters, HDR, etc.
Special Requirements: Image must contain either Lemonade, Ice Tea, and Flip Flops. You may combine Lemonade and Ice Tea, Hence the name Arnold Palmer (It’s a Drink), but you must have Flip Flops in the image.
Use your creativity. This Challenge is open to interpretation. You must have fun! Happy Image Making! Let’s see those images!
The images will be hosted on Flicker so please (Click Here) to go to our Flicker Group Page, or visit http://www.flickr.com/groups/photoheadonline/ to join the group and participate.
Please keep in mind: The purpose of having these challenges is to help us get better at being image makers. Exercising our imagination and creativity. When we constantly challenge ourselves, we get better. Also, this Flicker group as well as this website is about encouraging people to be better image makers. When you participate in critiques, please use an uplifting and encouraging tone, that’s not to say you can’t say anything negative, but phrase it in a way that the recipient will benefit and help give solutions.
This challenge is the start of a whole series of FUN PHOTO Challenges that we’ll have here on photoheadonline.com. I come from an education background and I thought it would be great to be able to leverage this knowledge and skill to help my readers as well as myself be better image makers. From my experience, the more you do something, the better you get at it. This is especially true with photography. Photography is, among many others, about narrowing the gap between what you see in your mind and what you actually produce. It takes practice to acquire the skills technically to do this, as well as creatively. So with these Fun Photo Challenges you will be given a set of criteria to follow and you will be able to upload your images to Flicker and we can give you feedback as to what was good about your image and what can be improved on. If we all carry an open mind, we can all be better image makers!
