We’re having in shootout! In the blue corner we have the Fujinon 60mm F2.4 Macro Lens for the Fuji X-Pro1, and in the Red corner we have the Sony 50mm F1.8 OSS lens for the Sony NEX-7 or NEX series cameras.

We want to know who is the king of close up. This test has been so fun. I’ve always loved close up work and it’s just so interesting to see things in a different perspective. It’s been very interesting to see what the potential of these lenses are. I think you’ll be pretty surprised with the results or at least amazed at the detail that is achieved. So here is a sneak peek of some images from the review just to give you a taste.

Guess which lens these shots came from. I’ll show the full image and a very close up crop to show you the details. These images are all hand-held!! WOW, with my shaky hands!!

Pic in A is fuji for sure as xpro1 tends to over expose and B is nex7. Great pics

    •

great guess Paresh, and thanks for the kind words. be sure to come back for the right answer and the full review!!! Just a reminder to everyone. we’re all photographer’s right? so let’s use our eye’s to guess and not look at the exif data, that would be taking the fun out of the challenge. thanks for all your participation!

  2.

Parech is correct… the exif never lies:-)

  3.

They were shot with the ********[edited]. It’s right there in the EXIF.

Doug, you are right, but you took all the fun out of it!! based on just looks could you have guessed??? 🙂 be sure to come back and read the full review! thanks for your comment!

An interesting comparison but I still wish Sony made a 60mm instead of a 50mm. That 10mm difference is huge (IMHO) on a crop frame sensor.

  5.

Picture A is sony Nex 7, Picture B is Fuji X Pro1. My guess is because on picture A the bokeh is so bad that it can’t be Fuji. Fuji has a nice creamy rounded bokeh due to the blade and the pic A one has a really hard bokeh. And the sharpness from the lenses don’t lie.

  6.

Pic A is Sony and B is Fuji. I see bokeh of pic A fantastic. And crop images show pic B has more details. I also see a subtle difference in depth of field; please compare petals.
